OATLEY House
Situated within an original 1800s Victorian terrace in Sydney's east, the bathroom and laundry additions drew cues for their palette from the muted tones of the overall house, of moody greys, with accents of soft blue and green. With the house having retained many of its original features including stone fireplaces and ornate architraves, the two contemporary bathrooms and laundry sought to incorporate curves and to imbibe a feeling of the handmade into the project, with features such as handmade Moroccan tiles, Venetian plaster and deeply veined natural marble.
Texture was important throughout the spaces, to ensure the rooms felt they belonged, with layering of tones and curves and arches seeking to soften forms and create a sensuous feel that was at once contemporary, elegant and refined.
Luxurious decorative lighting accents were incorporated throughout including vintage Murano, Kelly Wearstler alabaster wall lights and Articolo 'Fizi' wall sconces.
